To all Friends, Comrades and Colleagues, Herewith we send our Pers Release as Statement in 62nd Anniversary of Human Rights Day 2010... On behalf of Central Board of GSBI Emelia Yanti MD. Siahaan General Secrerary --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PERSS RELEASE CENTRAL BOARD OF STOP HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATION AND UNION BUSTING" Investigate Human Rights Past Violation thoroughly And Restore Those Who were Enforced Disappearance
Recognition of the rights of Independence, Justice and Humanity has been declared by all the nations through the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which was proclaimed on December 10, 1948. Universal Declaration of Human Rights recognizes that every human being has the same dignity and rights on social, culture, economic, and political must be guaranteed and protected by the State. Every person has the right to decent living, the right to decent work and away from slavery in any form, the right to a fair and decent wage, the right to freedom of assembly and Freedom of Association without the pressure and violences. The right to housing, education and decent health care. The Universal Declaration which is the important milestones of the struggle for compliance and enforcement of Human Rights, which became the duty of the State to fullfil all the people's basic rights as stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Today people no longer get right to work and a decent wage, people no longer have the right to housing, including food and clothing, people no longer have access to education and decent health care because of increasing health costs and education, people no longer have the right to take part in cultural activities. The wage policy, the policy about the liberalization of land, labor export policy and various other policies, such as raising prices in electricity tariff (TDL) would make people's life increasingly impoverished and in threatened losing their basic rights. The impact of such a policy be not easy for the people. Today people no longer get right to work and a decent wage, people no longer have the right to housing, including food and clothing, people no longer have access to education and decent health care because of increasing health and education cost, people no longer have the right to take part in cultural activities.
The workers must also be confronted with no certainty of work, the mass layoffs, occurred in all the cities in Indonesia, the application of short-term contract and outsource is clear evidence of deprivation of rights work undertaken by the government. Until mid-August 2009 alone for example Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) noted the number of workers laid off about 3 million people (source: Kompas Media). Of course this will increase the number of unemployment in the same period, the figure is estimated to reach 8.59 million people, equivalent to 7.41% of total labor force that numbers 107 million people. Other issues that are faced by the Indonesia workers is suppression of Trade Unions and no freedom of speech in public, although the government has ratified 17 ILO conventions, regarding protection for workers and freedom of association, and also has issued Law No. 21 of 2000 Concerning Trade Union / Labor Union and Labor Law No. 13 of 2003. However, violent actions, such as beatings, terror, mutation labor and layoffs toward members and trade union leaders as well as criminalizing union leaders continue to occur. This proves that the Indonesian government to date has never been serious in enforcing the rights for the workers, because in reality there are no guarantees for the workers to be able to fight for a better life through the Trade Unions. Situations and circumstances on experienced and faced by GSBI from since its establishment. Almost every time when organizing and set up trade unions at the plant is always in the way blocked and destroyed by entrepreneurs with a variety of ways. Where almost 80% of establishment of trade unions at the plant is always accompanied by layoffs unilateral action against members and leaders of trade unions by employers with a variety of reasons and a series of other measures such as, mutation, Warning Letter (SP), are not given rations for overtime, terror and intimidation to resign from GSBI membership or dissolve the Independent trade union that is have registration number according to law. In fact, there are also criminalize the practice of using criminal articles and campaign of anti independent union (GSBI) conducted openly. The objective situation above make anniversary of world Human Rights Day this time has a significance for the workers. The situation when the universal declaration on human rights recognition is increasing age, but on the contents of the universal declaration can not be perceived benefits for the workers, peasants and other poor peoples. The workers and also the people of Indonesia was even more difficult to defend the rights of economic, social and cultural and even still had to fight to get it because there was no guarantee and protection of the state.
Therefore, in order to 62nd anniversary Human Rights Day on December 10, 2010. Central Board of Federation of Independent Trade Union (DPP.GSBI) called on all Workers and Indonesia Peoples to jointly " FIGHTS AGAINST GRABBING ON WAGES, WORK AND LANDS, VARIOUS FORMS OF VIOLENCE, HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATION AND UNION BUSTING " And to realize the service, a true protection and improved welfare for the workers, the government of Indonesia must fullfil the following demands: 1.
